Find Connection and Community in a Staff Affiliate Group

If you’re looking for ways to get more connected with UC San Diego’s vibrant and diverse staff community, consider getting involved with a staff affiliate group. In connection with the UC San Diego Staff Association, these groups build community among staff around shared identities or interests.
Throughout the year, staff affiliate groups (also known as employee resource groups) host events and programs focusing on professional development, networking and celebrating culture and identity. For staff who are working remotely, joining a staff affiliate group is a great way to build new social and professional connections in a virtual environment.
Staff affiliate groups also provide leadership and advocacy in our campus community. I’d like to highlight the excellent work of the Black Staff Association (BSA) over the past year. In this time of particular focus on addressing anti-Blackness and advancing anti-racism, the BSA hosted a number of invaluable opportunities for UC San Diego staff to engage in learning and dialogue around race, such as the ‘Born Free: Healing & Transcending Racism’ workshop series with Starla Lewis and the ‘Addressing Anti-Blackness’ series with Shola Richards, presented in partnership with the Staff Association.

Get Connected with a UC San Diego Staff Affiliate Group
Black Staff Association (BSA): The Black Staff Association is dedicated to creating a supportive campus environment for Black faculty, staff, and students by providing opportunities for personal interaction and meaningful involvement.

Chicanx/Latinx Staff Association (CLSA): The Chicanx/Latinx Staff Association (CLSA) focuses on providing activities and opportunities to assist in the retention, professional development, and promotion of Chicanx/Latinx staff at UC San Diego.

Faculty and Staff Christian Fellowship: The Faculty and Staff Christian Fellowship creates opportunities for Christian staff and faculty at UC San Diego to express their faith and serve in our community.

Pan-Asian Staff Association (PASA): The Pan-Asian Staff Association focuses on promoting the general well-being of Asian/Pacific Islander staff at UC San Diego through professional development, community building and education.

Parents, Guardians & Caregivers Association (PGCA): The PGCA is dedicated to creating a supportive campus environment at UC San Diego for all those who are parents, guardians and/or caregivers. The group provides opportunities for personal and professional growth, networking and community building.

Retirement Association: With membership open to retirees and current employees, the Retirement Association is a great way to get engaged with the Triton community. Throughout the year the Retirement Association offers educational programs, activities focused on fun and fellowship, and meaningful opportunities to contribute your time, knowledge, skills and expertise as a volunteer.

Staff Sustainability Network (SSN): UC San Diego's Staff Sustainability Network brings awareness, transparency and collaboration to campus sustainability efforts. The group connects staff, students, faculty, alumni and community members with similar eco-passions.

LGBT Staff and Faculty Association: The LGBT Staff and Faculty Association is the official faculty and staff association for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community at UC San Diego. It provides opportunities to meet new people and make long-lasting connections. Events are open to faculty and staff regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Veterans Staff Association: The Veterans Staff Association supports programs and projects that benefit Veterans, Active Military, Retired Military, Reservists, and Military Affiliates at UC San Diego and in the San Diego community. Membership is open to anyone who supports the vision of the VSA.

Visual Arts Group: The Visual Arts Group is dedicated to supporting the creative and artistic abilities of students, staff, faculty, alumni, retirees, and emeriti.

On a personal note, it’s such a pleasure to work closely with Staff Association leadership and partner in supporting and recognizing the critical contributions made by staff across our campus.
