CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Mid-Coast Light Rail Transit Project: Pepper Canyon Lane Opening
Project Location/Description:
The Mid-Coast Light Rail Transit Project is continuing with the construction of the Pepper Canyon Trolley Station. This work effort includes underground utility upgrades, adjacent surface improvements to facilitate vehicular and pedestrian movements, and bicycle storage lockers. The next phase of the project will shift traffic onto the new Pepper Canyon Lane, just west of Warren Field.
Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:
In early March 2021, vehicular and bicycle traffic will be shifted to the new Pepper Canyon Lane. Pedestrians will remain on the dedicated ADA-accessible path as shown on the accompanying area map. Access to The Village at Pepper Canyon East, Warren Field, and other adjacent facilities will be maintained at all times. The new Pepper Canyon Lane and Voigt Drive intersection will be established as a three-way stop/roundabout hybrid with supporting traffic control signage and striping. Intermittent impacts to Pepper Canyon Lane and Voigt Drive will occur through late 2021 to allow for construction activities, but access will always be maintained. The final phase of the project will include a shift in pedestrian traffic in Summer of 2021 prior to the completion of the project in Fall of 2021.
Please follow signage, flag persons instructions, and allow extra time while traveling through the area.
If you have any questions, please contact Project Manager Roland Bartsch (rbartsch@ucsd.edu) at (619) 917-7113 or Project Specialist Kathy Whelan (klwhelan@ucsd.edu) at (858) 534-2846.
We greatly appreciate your patience during these construction activities.
