In Memoriam: Carlos Rey Sotelo

The UC San Diego community mourns the death of one of our students in a traffic accident that occurred on campus this past weekend.

Carlos Rey Sotelo was a Warren College first-year student from Riverside County, who studied electrical engineering. Carlos was an active member in the Student Success Coaching Program at UC San Diego, and a staff member at Foodworx on campus in the Matthews Apartments.

We offer our sincere condolences to Carlos’ family at this sad time. We would also like to extend our appreciation to those present at the accident who did everything they could to offer aid.

In today’s workshop, CAPS psychologists will provide an overview of grief, contextualize its range and scope, normalize feelings of grief, and help students come away with useful coping skills.
