With matching funding from Chancellor Pradeep Khosla, we are pleased to announce that we are reopening the Faculty COVID Relief Grant and will accept applications through April 11.
The Center for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion awarded Faculty COVID Relief Grants of up to $2,500 to support faculty demonstrating acute needs as a result of COVID-19. However, due to an overwhelming response, we had to close the application in January. We’ve heard from several faculty that the need for support is ongoing and recognize that some faculty at UC San Diego continue to be adversely impacted by the COVID pandemic and related challenges.
The parameters for eligibility remain the same. Funds may be requested by active Senate and Non-Senate Faculty, not including visiting and represented titles, who are experiencing undue hardship or extenuating circumstances due to COVID-19, and who would benefit from financial support to improve their work environment and/or academic progress.
Eligible faculty who demonstrate a need for assistance due to unexpected demands on their time during the pandemic, e.g., redesigning courses, remote teaching challenges, increased support for students, young children at home (who would normally be in school or daycare), or other related challenges are encouraged to apply.
Grants will be awarded based on demonstrated need. Grant funds may be used for equipment, software, supplies, research personnel, graduate student support, or any other research or teaching support needed and as permitted by University policy.
We hope that this grant will provide needed support and express how much we care about your success and wellbeing.
