ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO (Including Health Sciences)
Research Ramp-Up Update
As we announced last week, we are in the early stages of an incremental return to campus while maintaining strict adherence to county, campus, and CDC guidance regarding social distancing, use of face coverings, and weekly COVID testing.
Because of your support in complying with these safety precautions, UC San Diego has navigated the past year without any significant COVID-19 transmission in research or academic settings. Given this, and our success in making vaccines widely available to faculty, staff and student employees, we are able to expand the occupancy cap in research settings up to 50% beginning April 1, 2021.
All of those faculty, PIs and researchers working on-site must either be included on an approved Research Ramp-Up plan (for those bringing team members back to on-site work) or complete the Work Health Registration form (for individuals returning to work individually in their private offices).
Students may be included on Research Ramp-Up plans if they are engaged in training rotations or if their research activity is related to their educational program (199 courses, thesis research, etc.). No student should be required or pressured to work on-site.
Staff who are working successfully remotely will not return to campus before May 31, 2021. Return to campus plans for staff are in development and will be communicated in the coming weeks.
Consult the Research Ramp-Up Guidelines website for information about updating an existing Research Ramp-Up plan or submitting a new one if you have not done so before. For those returning to work individually in their private offices, please complete the Work Health Registration Form online.
