Updates from your CHRO

Dear Colleagues,

This month marks one year since our operations shifted significantly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past year, our vibrant staff community has continued to demonstrate remarkable resilience and creativity in the face of great change and uncertainty.

At the same time, we're also facing challenges caused by the ongoing disruptions to our personal and professional lives. If you’re looking for support in managing stress and anxiety, visit this Blink page of curated resources from our Faculty and Staff Assistance Program. Read on to learn about additional updates for staff.

Health and Safety Updates

Vaccinating Campus Employees: Last week, Chancellor Khosla shared information regarding vaccinating UC San Diego employees at the RIMAC Vaccination Super Station, in accordance with State of California guidelines. Learn more about COVID-19 vaccines for UC San Diego campus employees »

Please note that time spent getting vaccinated at a UC San Diego Health location is considered compensable work time. For those who need to charge the time to something other than regular work time, use the non-COVID Admin Leave with Pay option. If an employee is unwell after being vaccinated, they can use available COVID-related UC Paid Admin Leave. Learn more about COVID-19 related paid leaves »

Weekly Asymptomatic Testing: All UC San Diego employees (staff, faculty, research, clinical) who report to work on campus or at any physical worksite are still required to get a COVID-19 test on a weekly basis. Tests are provided for free and during normal working hours. Learn more about required COVID-19 testing for on-site employees. All employees, regardless of work location, continue to have access to voluntary, no-cost asymptomatic COVID-19 testing as often as weekly. Learn more about employee testing options »

Using Sick Leave for COVID-19 Child Care Needs: President Drake has extended the time during which additional flexibility is afforded to the use of sick leave in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through June 30, 2021, all staff employees may use their accrued sick leave if they are unable to work or telework because they are caring for their child while their child is not physically present at their school or place of care (or with their child care provider) due to COVID-19 precautions.

On the Horizon: Dates and Deadlines
