Beginning on Monday, May 3, indoor dining at campus eateries will open at 50 percent of capacity or 200 people, whichever is fewer, per state and county guidelines. This campus guideline only applies to Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) and campus affiliate eateries. Guests are required to wear masks when they are not eating or drinking.
It is highly recommended that unvaccinated individuals continue to eat outdoors. For information on how to get vaccinated, please visit the vaccination page on the Return to Learn website.
In-person planned activities must continue to be held outdoors in accordance with county and campus guidelines. Beginning on May 3, food may be served at outdoor campus activities provided it is not self-serve (no buffet) and provided it is consumed only in designated areas. To ensure proper handling of food preparation, service and clean-up, food for outdoor campus activities must be arranged through UC San Diego Catering (HDH).
Employee Break Rooms
At this time, employees are not permitted to eat in break rooms. We anticipate this restriction to change in the coming months as county restrictions are lifted.
