MEMBERS OF THE REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE, SAN DIEGO DIVISION
April 13, 2021 Representative Assembly Meeting
Dear Colleagues:
The fifth meeting of the 2020-21 academic year is scheduled for Tuesday, April 13th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held via Zoom. Representative Assembly members will receive the Zoom link directly. If you are a Senate member who is not an Assembly Representative and you would like to attend the meeting, please RSVP to Ashley Welch at awelch@ucsd.edu to obtain the login instructions. All Senate members are welcome to attend.
Although the meeting will start at 3:30, we are asking meeting participants to begin logging in at 3:15 to allow time for each participant to be admitted into the meeting. We also ask that your Zoom name match your real name, so that you may be identified. The meeting materials include this and other important Zoom information for this meeting.
We have a very full agenda this meeting. Chancellor Khosla and Executive Vice Chancellor Simmons will address the Assembly, and Committee on Library Chair John Hildebrand and University Librarian Erik Mitchell will provide an update on open access. The following consent items will be presented: Senate election nominations, 2020-21 Distinguished Teaching Awards, and a non-substantive change to Divisional Regulation 600.F.7. The following proposals will be presented:
Proposal to Establish Contiguous BS-MS Program in Oceanography in SIO Department.
Proposal to Establish MS and PhD in Astronomy in Department of Physics.
Proposal to Establish Dual Degree Program with School of Global Policy & Strategy and Seoul National University (GPS MAS in International Affairs and SNU Master of Public Administration).
Proposal to Amend San Diego Divisional Senate Manual Appendix 5.7, Bylaws of the Faculty of the School of Medicine.
Proposal to Amend San Diego Divisional Senate Manual Appendix 5.8, Bylaws of the Health Sciences Faculty.
Proposal to Amend San Diego Divisional Senate Regulation 503, Grading Policy – School of Medicine.
As large Zoom meetings do not lend themselves to free-flowing discussion, I ask that you please review the meeting materials in advance of the meeting and send questions to academicsenateoffice@ucsd.edu with the agenda topic number in the subject line of the email, by Friday morning, April 9th. Your questions will be shared with the presenters so that they may be prepared to discuss them in advance.
Primary Representatives and Alternate Representatives should coordinate their attendance and voting for this meeting. Both may attend; however, Alternate Representatives may only vote in the absence of the Primary Representative. Please coordinate who will attend and cast votes, in advance of the meeting.
Stay healthy,
