Dear Colleagues,
In February, UC San Diego employees began receiving invitations to receive their COVID-19 vaccines through UC San Diego Health. We have seen, and are continuing to see, encouraging data on our Return to Learn dashboard that demonstrates our campus community’s strong commitment to keeping ourselves and each other safe and healthy.
We’ll get more insight at next week’s Staff Town Hall (on Tuesday, May 18 at 1:30 p.m.) where Natasha Martin, associate professor of medicine at the UC San Diego School of Medicine and Return to Learn program leader, will share how we are using data modeling to inform our decisions about safely ramping up on-site operations.
If you haven’t yet gotten your vaccine, our on-campus vaccination center at RIMAC Arena is now accepting walk-ups for UC San Diego staff, academic appointees and students. The vaccination process at RIMAC is simple, quick, and easy to navigate. We are encouraging everyone in our Triton community to get vaccinated by June 1, 2021, as the RIMAC vaccination center is scheduled to permanently close the following day. Pandemic Survey Closes Friday: Our staff survey, “Lessons Learned from the Pandemic”, is open through this Friday, May 14, so don’t miss this opportunity to share your voice. You can also share your thoughts and ideas about embracing a new vision for our workplace via our IdeaWave campaign.
Campus Masking Policy Update: Fully vaccinated, and in some instances unvaccinated, individuals are no longer required to wear masks in certain outdoor settings and situations. As the virus spreads more easily indoors, everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is required to mask in indoor settings except for one's primary residence. Read the policy update announcement for more details »
Transitioning the Workplace: Whether you will be returning to your campus work space for the first time, or you have been working on campus since March 2020, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) invites you to join a weekly discussion group to support a healthy return to public life and work together on-site and in hybrid forms. The group will be hosted on Tuesdays at 11 a.m., starting Tuesday, May 25. Learn more and register »

Performance Appraisals: Performance appraisal season has arrived for all policy-covered campus staff employees and many represented employees. This is a time to reflect on (and make a list of) all your hard work and accomplishments over the past year. It’s also a great time to collaborate and communicate with your supervisor about what’s working well and what challenges you are facing. The review period is from May 1, 2020, through April 30, 2021. The deadline to complete and submit performance appraisals is June 30, 2021 (for most units).

This year's survey combines questions from past years to allow for a long-term analysis of UC's progress and challenges, with a few new questions designed to capture employees' experiences during a uniquely challenging year.
