Reminder: Campus Phone Upgrade and Limited Functionality on June 25 from 4:30 - 4:40 a.m.

As a reminder, IT Services has scheduled a software upgrade to the campus telephone system. This upgrade will provide enhanced 911 services for the Campus Police and Fire/Life safety. The campus telephone system’s numbers are those that start with (858) 534-, (858) 822- and (858) 246-. Other phone numbers are supported by a different telephone system and will not be affected.

During the upgrade campus telephone services will be restricted to campus and medical center dialing only.

Emergency and 911 Calls During the Outage
  • During the upgrade, 911 phone calls must be made by using cell phones or VoIP voice lines. Calls originating from an on-campus phone line to any external numbers including 911 and 286 (used to clock in or out) will not function during the 10-minute upgrade of the phone system.
  • During the upgrade, calls from any campus phone to the main police administrative number (858-534-HELP) will still be answered by the campus police dispatch center.
