The UC San Diego Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) is actively seeking new members. As academic appointee and postdoctoral vacancies were filled in the 2020 call for applicants, the vacancies this year are in the following categories: staff (2), additional academic appointees (2), undergraduate students (1), and graduate students (1), for a total of 6 vacancies.
The Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) plays a valuable role on campus. Its charge is to make recommendations to the Chancellor and VCEDI regarding policies and practices that will improve the campus climate and overall experience for women students, staff, and faculty at UC San Diego. Specific advisory priorities for the committee are re-examined and established on an annual basis. CSW is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion at UC San Diego and prioritizes diversity in recruitment and intersectionality in its work. CSW welcomes individuals of all backgrounds, orientations, and gender-identities to serve on the committee.
Selection criteria include: commitment to serve on the Committee on the Status of Women for a one- to three-year term; commitment to attend monthly, 90-minute CSW meetings; commitment to join a CSW subcommittee (3-5 hours per month) that matches your skills, expertise, and/or interests; and demonstrated interest in issues relating to gender equity and the status of women students, staff, and faculty at UC San Diego. The goal is to have an interdisciplinary and diverse cross-campus representation in this committee.
The CSW meets on the second Tuesday of every month from 12:30-2:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted. For more information about the Committee on the Status of Women, visit: http://statusofwomen.ucsd.edu.
Notice of appointment will be made in September 2021. Participation on this committee is not required and therefore does not implicate any workload equivalencies or other assigned duties. If you have any questions, please contact diversity@ucsd.edu.
