Talent Support Services Resuming In-Person Services

I am pleased to share that Talent Support Services will resume providing in-person services, including Live Scan background checks, beginning Wednesday, July 7. A division of Human Resources, Talent Support Services facilitates background checks, online reference checks, and skills assessments as part of the recruitment and hiring process.  

How to Request Background Checks, Reference Checks and Skills Assessments  

Live Scan is the preferred background check method for all staff positions. Results are typically reported within a week, although there are occasional delays. If Live Scan appointments are unavailable or an applicant is unable to come to campus for an appointment, hiring managers may alternatively request a Consumer Report. Background checks for student employment and volunteer positions should continue to use Consumer Reports unless Live Scan is a contractual requirement.  

All requests for background checks, online reference checks, and skills assessments must be submitted via the following online forms, which can be found on Blink:

  • Live Scan Request Form (PDF)
  • Consumer Report Request Form (Online Form)
  • Background Check Release Form (PDF)
  • SkillSurvey Reference Check Request Form (PDF)
  • Skills Assessment Request Form (PDF)
Upon receiving a request form, Talent Support Services staff will send release forms to applicants via DocuSign and will schedule in-person appointments with candidates via email.  

Visiting the Talent Support Services Office  

In accordance with current campus health and safety guidelines, visitors to Talent Support Services should wear a face covering while inside the office. In adherence with social distancing guidelines and restrictions, Talent Support Services will have reduced appointment availability and will offer extended hours Tuesday through Thursday.

Talent Support Services is located on the second floor of Torrey Pines Center South. The address is 10280 N. Torrey Pines Rd., Suite 280, La Jolla, CA 92037.

Tuesday       8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Wednesday  8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday      8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
