We are pleased to announce the continued appointment of Professor Ivan Evans as Provost of Eleanor Roosevelt College, or ERC, following a praiseworthy administrative review. Provost Evans has been reappointed to his position as Eleanor Roosevelt College Provost effective July 1, 2020.
We thank the Eleanor Roosevelt College Provost five-year review committee and its chair, Professor Christine Alvarado, for its service in conducting a detailed, and comprehensive review. The committee members were highly impressed by his ability to implement and strengthen the identity of ERC, his commitment and personal connection to ERC students and to diversity, equity and inclusion within ERC, and his direct and fair leadership style. The committee found that Provost Evans is and has been doing an outstanding job as Provost of ERC and unanimously recommended his reappointment.
Provost Evans effectively inspires students, faculty, and staff with a genuine enthusiasm for the mission of ERC promoting global understanding, critical thinking, and appreciation of different cultural perspectives. Provost Evans is personally involved in the core academic component of the mission in the ERC Writing program, “Making of the Modern World” (MMW), in which he personally taught prior to his appointment as Provost. His excellent performance is additionally highlighted by his continuous work to integrate the mission of ERC into residential life in the college and his encouragement of students to become involved in service, even at the local level, and engaging students in efforts to address real-world, impactful issues such as human trafficking, refugees, and after-school learning programs. Students, staff, and administrators attest to Provost Evans’ dedication to enhancing the ERC student experience, his efforts to locate funding and expand the opportunities available to students, and his strong student advocacy.
Please join us in thanking Provost Evans for his exceptional service and in congratulating him on his well-deserved reappointment as Eleanor Roosevelt College Provost. We look forward to his continued leadership and partnership on critical issues of importance to the Eleanor Roosevelt College community and the campus.
