Updates from Human Resources
Have you participated in the Staff@Work Survey yet? You should have received your email invitation with your personal survey link on August 11. If you have not already done so, you still have time; the deadline to submit your survey feedback is Friday, September 10. The survey takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.
The results of this annual survey are a critical tool for UC San Diego department heads and vice chancellors to assess the climate in their units and to guide their planning and decision making. Learn more about the Staff@Work Survey.
Return to Campus
Looking ahead to the start of the fall quarter, leaders’ and supervisors’ plans for returning to on-site work should be made to appropriately support fall operations. We are encouraging departments to maintain a reduced population on campus whenever appropriate. Decisions are made at the local or department levels in line with guidance from vice chancellors.
If you have questions about your unit’s plans for returning to on-site work, contact the Return to Campus Support Desk at hr@ucsd.edu or 858-246-3570.
Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask or face covering at all indoor locations at UC San Diego, except while eating and drinking. The exception to this rule would be for a single individual in an office with a closed door. Learn more about campus safety guidelines and requirements.
Indoor events are temporarily not allowed through October 31, 2021, unless by vice chancellor exception using the formal event approval process. Indoor events that can be convened virtually should be held online. Outdoor events, while still permitted at this time, should be considered carefully to avoid large crowds. Learn more about event planning guidelines.
Required Training for On-Site Work: If you are working on site, whether fully or as part of a hybrid work schedule, you must complete COVID-19 prevention training, as required by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Cal/OSHA. Please review details about this new training requirement on Blink, as you may need to take a COVID-19 prevention course or a supplemental course.
University of California COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate
Compliance Timeline:Full compliance with the UC COVID-19 vaccination policy is required by September 6, 2021 for all campus staff, faculty and students by submitting proof of vaccination or by requesting a medical, religious, or disability exception or deferral. Requests for exception or deferral must be received no later than September 2, 2021.Learn more about compliance with the UC COVID-19 vaccination requirement.
While September 6 is the deadline for complying with the UC vaccine requirement, we recognize that employees may need additional time to either get fully vaccinated or to engage with the exception or deferral request process. Supervisors and other leaders will work individually with campus community members who may need additional time to comply with the policy.
Delay in Processing Exceptions: Please note that Sedgwick, our third-party administrator that is managing the exception and deferral request process, is experiencing delays in processing requests. We have a record if you have initiated a request through the Qualtrics survey. If you are unsure about whether your request is pending, do not submit another request, but instead reach out to SDVaxRO@health.ucsd.edu to confirm your request is pending.
Get Support and Ask Questions: If you need guidance or technical assistance in providing your proof of vaccination, please contact the UC San Diego COVID Vaccine Mandate Responsible Office at SDVaxRO@health.ucsd.edu.
