Announcing the Faculty Peer Group Coaching Program
The Center for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion is pleased to announce the launch of the Faculty Peer Group Coaching Program for all Senate and Non-Senate faculty at UC San Diego.
The program is designed to provide a structured space for faculty to connect, exchange practical guidance, and learn together to advance their career goals. Groups of 4 to 6 faculty will be formed based on shared interests, needs and preferences, and will be expected to meet at least monthly at an established time and place (either virtually or in-person).
All groups will be assigned a faculty facilitator who will help schedule and track participation in meetings. Groups will also receive guidance on how to structure groups and meeting sessions so that all group members have an opportunity to receive support in an inclusive, non-judgmental, and helpful atmosphere. Once assigned a group, faculty must agree to participate in monthly meetings, maintain confidentiality, and engage in ways that create safety, trust, and respect.
All interested faculty should complete an interest formby September 30, 2021. More information and the process to follow for joining a group can be found on the Faculty Mentoring and Coaching page. After the initial groups are formed, additional faculty may request to join an existing group on an ongoing basis, if space allows.
This program is being piloted with the support of a UC Office of the President Advancing Faculty Diversity Grant to advance the retention, wellbeing, and advancement of a diverse faculty at UC San Diego. It is meant to enhance – not replace – mentoring within departments and with assigned mentors. We hope you will consider joining and welcome your expression of interest.
