CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Upgrade to Fire Suppression Water Lines

Project Purpose
As the campus grows, improvements to infrastructure are necessary. Upcoming excavation and installation of new water pipe will upgrade domestic water systems, including fire suppression water lines.
Location, Duration and Impacts
This work will take place in three locations:
  1. Work on North Point Lane is anticipated to start October 24, 2022 and continue through December 2022. Impacts include intermittent lane closures at the intersection of Hopkins Drive and North Point Lane as well as street parking closures along North Point Lane. Pedestrian detours and/or closures may be necessary at times.
  2. Work on Ridge Walk between Rady School of Management and Thurgood Marshall Lane is anticipated to start on November 2022 and continue through January 2023. Impacts include a minor reduction in the width of the pedestrian path along Ridge Walk, however an accessible pedestrian path will always be provided.
  3. Work on Hopkins Lane is anticipated to begin in January 2023 and continue through March 2023. Impacts include southbound street parking closures and reduced lane widths. In addition, the pedestrian walkway
located on the west site of Hopkins Lane will be closed, and a pedestrian detour will be provided.
Micro-mobility such as bicycles, scooters and skateboards should proceed with caution when traveling near construction zones. Please observe all temporary traffic controls and crewmember instructions. See a map of the work areas.
If you have any questions, please contact Project Manager Ross Kunishige at 619-341-2433. We greatly appreciate your patience during these construction activities.
