Earlier this year, UC San Diego was invited to be among six of the nation’s leading research and development universities to host a segment of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) conference series called DARPA Forward.
The series began in August and concludes at UC San Diego, Dec. 13-14. This is an exciting opportunity for UC San Diego researchers, faculty, students and staff to learn more about DARPA.
The initiative seeks to connect with communities of talent and energize regional innovation ecosystems involved in developing and advancing breakthrough technologies for national security. As the top University of California institution in Department of Defense funding, currently $120 million annually, UC San Diego was an obvious choice to host the grand finale of the hybrid conference series.
Senior national security leaders will be in attendance to discuss their emerging needs. This will be extremely useful to investigators looking to craft proposals addressing the big ideas that will transform national security.
This is an opportunity to hear from DARPA program leaders to better understand future priorities and where our research aligns.
I encourage faculty, staff, students, and post-doctoral scholars to take advantage of this opportunity to network and gain a better perspective of future funding and innovation pushes.
