UC San Diego Celebrates Women’s Herstory Month
Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in UC San Diego's Women’s Herstory Month Celebration throughout March. This important observance and celebration of diversity will feature a wide range of programs focused on the many contributions of women in history, culture and society. This year’s theme is, “Our Stories Are Our Strength: Past, Present and Future.”
Our featured event, “A Conversation with Roxane Gay,” will occur virtually on Thursday, March 3, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Roxane Gay is an American writer, professor, editor and social commentator. She is the author of The New York Times best-selling essay collection Bad Feminist, as well as the short story collection Ayiti, the novels Graceful Burden and An Untamed State, the short story collection Difficult Women, and the memoir Hunger. The Women’s Center at UC San Diego collaborated with the Women’s Centers at the University of San Diego and San Diego State University to make this rare opportunity and unique event possible. ≫ Register for “A Conversation with Roxane Gay” online.

In recognition of this annual event, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved for employees to attend a UC San Diego Women’s Herstory Month activity. Supervisors, upon request, may approve the use of such leave when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.
