Today, the Business Intelligence (BI) and Financial Reporting team launched an enhanced Faculty and Researcher Dashboard in the Business Analytics Hub. The dashboard’s runtime performance has been improved and includes payroll projections and projection details. Work on the new dashboard was completed with input from staff and faculty in Jacobs School of Engineering, the Division of Biological Sciences, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and multiple Health Sciences departments.

This enhanced report is the first of many reports that will be launched over the next several months. The plan is to release a new or enhanced report every two weeks through the end of June. To review the report development roadmap, please visit the BI & Financial Reporting Blink webpage.
Two primary areas of opportunity were identified in the Finance Systems survey results. One was faster and more streamlined financial reports for the campus community and the other was data quality/management. Data quality issues will be addressed by:
- Reconciliation between General Ledger (GL) and Project Portfolio Management (PPM)
- Expense reimbursements from Miscellaneous receipts or the Billing module
- Credit card merchant fees
- Specific expense transactions that exist in the GL that should be in PPM
- Identification and resolution of conversion issues, such as missing revenue for sponsored-initiated clinical trials
- Reconciliation of cost-share issues
- Reduction of the FinU Default Project balance by resolving UCPath position funding issues
Reconciliation efforts will take place over the next several months, and progress updates for reconciliation efforts will be shared through various channels, including the Budget & Finance Weekly Digest.
To see the survey results and track progress on planned resolutions to issues, please refer to the Improvements webpage on the Financial Management website.
As a reminder, the Finance Help Line is available at (858) 246-4237 if you have finance-related questions or issues that need escalation.
