ALL STUDENTS, ACADEMICS, AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO
Simplification of Research Ramp Up Procedures Starting March 21, 2022
As UC San Diego continues to return to more normal levels of operation, in response to lower transmission rates and significantly declining case positivity rates on campus, Research Ramp Up procedures for researchers will be simplified starting March 21, 2022. Beginning that date, researchers are no longer required to submit Research Ramp Up plans to the Office of Research Affairs. The Research Ramp Up web site will remain available as a resource and reference for the research community.
Note that research activities must continue to follow all campus guidelines and best practices to reduce COVID exposure. We all need to stay vigilant and continue the practices that we know help keep our campus community safe. Booster vaccinations remain of utmost importance. As announced by the Chancellor last week, masking is now optional except in indoor classroom/instructional settings, clinical areas, and on Triton/university transportation. Those working in research facilities outside of clinical areas are not required to wear masks, though we encourage masking as it remains one of the easiest and most effective ways to reduce the spread of the virus. The Return to Learn web site continues to provide the latest information on the full range of campus guidelines.
I want to thank the entire research community at UC San Diego for helping create and maintain a healthy research and educational environment for students, faculty, staff, and all others involved in the research enterprise. Your patience, fortitude and dedication have allowed research activity to continue at UC San Diego, even during the most challenging phases of the pandemic. Your commitment has paved the way for this simplification of our Research Ramp Up procedures.
Sincerely,
Corinne Peek-Asa Vice Chancellor for Research
