I am delighted to announce that after a national search, Alexandra (Alex) Galarza will join UC San Diego on May 2 as Senior Director, People Programs and Rewards, reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).
Within our new, client-oriented Human Resources structure, the Senior Director, People Programs and Rewards will deliver forward-thinking programs designed to attract, retain, reward, recognize and support UC San Diego’s exceptional and diverse talent.
Alex is a leader in total rewards with a rich experience in several industries. She comes to us from UT Health San Antonio where she oversaw Compensation, Leave Administration, Benefits and Retirement Programs. She is deeply committed to attracting and retaining top talent, which has never been so critical for our organization in a context of rapid growth in a very fluid talent environment.
As Senior Director, People Programs and Rewards, Alex will manage Compensation and Classification programs and provide strategic oversight to a portfolio of services supporting UC San Diego employees and retirees, including Benefits, Equal Opportunity Programs, Events and Recognition, Wellbeing Services, Disability Counseling, Leaves of Absence, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, and the Retirement Resource Center.
