Updates from Human Resources

Last week, we celebrated the service milestones of 329 UC San Diego staff members who have reached milestones from ten to 40 years of service. This year’s Service Award honorees represent an enormous breadth of expertise, experience and skill. Their contributions impact every corner of campus.

In Human Resources, we support and engage with UC San Diego staff at every stage of their journey, from the day they apply through retirement and beyond. In the years in between, we offer resources, programs and guidance to help staff grow, learn and develop in their careers. At the biannual Service Awards, we have the opportunity to shine a spotlight on our incredible staff community and celebrate their dedication and tenacity. Congratulations to all our honorees and thank you to everyone who joined us for last week’s ceremony.

Apply for “No Lapse in Pay” for July 1 Retirement: If you’re planning on retiring on July 1 this year, consider applying for “no lapse in pay”, a guaranteed continuation of income and medical and dental benefits (if you’re currently enrolled and eligible for benefits as a retiree) as you transition to retirement. Introduced last year, this option ensures that eligible employees retiring on July 1, 2022, will receive their first retirement benefit payment on August 1, 2022.

Employees interested in this option must submit all required documentation by May 13, 2022 and meet eligibility requirements. Learn more on UCnet.
