CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Central Utilities Plant Expansion, Chiller Plant Addition – Existing Utilities Potholing
Project Purpose The Central Utilities Plant Expansion, Chiller Plant Addition project will provide additional cooling capacity to the campus by constructing a new chiller plant north of Scholars Drive South and West of Herbert York Lane. The plant will include two chillers, two cooling towers, associated pumps, piping and all required electrical distribution systems.
Location and Duration Construction will impact Scholars Drive South between the La Jolla Project Stuart Collection sculpture and Gilman Drive starting on April 25, 2022 and continuing through May 20, 2022. The hours of work are from 7:00a.m. – 3:30p.m.
Immediate Impacts
Construction will impact access to loading docks at York and Galbraith Halls and the Central Utilities Plant. Access to the Central Utilities Plant yard will also be impacted. Flag persons will control traffic while they are impacted.
One lane may be closed intermittently on Herbert York Lane and Scholars Drive South. Traffic will be controlled by flag persons when the lanes are closed.
Pedestrian and bike lanes on Scholars Drive South may be impacted intermittently.
Pedestrian paths by the Revelle College Provost building will be closed.
Please observe all temporary traffic controls and crewmember instructions. Please reduce speeds and allow extra space when traveling adjacent to construction activity. See a map of the affected area.
