Following a comprehensive nationwide search, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Terri Winbush as the Campus Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) effective June 1, 2022. Ms. Winbush will be a member of the Vice Chancellor & Chief Financial Officer’s senior management team as well as the Chancellor’s Cabinet.
Ms. Winbush joined UC San Diego seven years ago and quickly assumed a leadership role in employee and labor relations to become Senior Director of HR Strategy and Policy. In this role, she was a trusted partner to many across the campus.
Over the last couple of years, Ms. Winbush has been a very strong advocate for our staff. She was instrumental in developing and implementing policies and services that kept our community safe through the pandemic. She co-led our Return to Campus taskforce to reimagine our workplace. She enabled campuswide conversations to fight racism and develop a more inclusive environment. She has also been a strong voice at our staff town halls, advocating for giving grace and making space for us to bring our whole selves to our work at UC San Diego.
Ms. Winbush has been a champion of the renewal of our campus HR function, which is developing a strategic HR model to deliver a stronger and more consistent value proposition for our staff; to establish more flexible strategies to retain and attract talent; to expand role-based training and professional development opportunities; and to enhance access for employees to easily address any HR issue they may have.
Her passion for our community, her authenticity in everything she does and her commitment to the HR renewal initiative make Ms. Winbush the natural leader to continue to evolve our campus Human Resources.
