2022-2023 UC Salary Program
| |
Following the announcement by Chancellor Khosla of the 2022-2023 UC salary program on May 17, 2022, I am pleased to share the details of the academic salary program for academic appointees in 2022-2023.
The adjustment to the salary scales will be effective October 1, 2022 for policy-covered faculty and July 1, 2022 for other policy-covered academic appointees as noted below. The new salary scales are posted on the UC Office of the President website.
The regular peer-review advancement process for academic appointees will continue per academic personnel policy. In addition, we are conducting a Special Salary Equity Program for policy-covered faculty titles to address salary compression, inversion, and competitiveness.
July 1, 2022 Adjustments
Salary scales for non-faculty, non-represented academics will be increased by 4%. This includes Academic Administrators, Academic Coordinators, Continuing Educators, and non-represented appointees in the Librarian, Professional Research, Project Scientist, and Specialist series. The Standard Table of Pay rates will also be adjusted by 4%. Above Scale salaries and Off-Scale salary components for non-faculty, non-represented academics will be increased by 4%.
Full-Time Faculty Administrators will be eligible for a 4% merit-based increase.
Salary scales for represented academic appointees are set by the terms of their collective bargaining agreements. Below are approved contractual increases effective July 1, 2022:
| |
- Librarian (LX Unit) scales will be increased by 3%
- Non-Senate Instructional Unit (IX-Unit 18) scales will be increased by 3%
- Researcher, Project Scientist and Specialist scales (RA Unit) will be adjusted by 3%. In addition, equity adjustments and smoothing of the represented Project Scientist Series and represented Specialist Series salary scales will be made in accordance with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Above Scale salaries and Off-Scale salary components will be increased by 3%.

For detailed information regarding other represented titles, please reference the relevant contracts.
Salary Scales for Trainee Titles and Represented Resident Physicians:
The salary ranges for Clinical Psychology Interns and Non-Physician Clinical Trainees will be adjusted by 4%. The local Resident Physician scales have been adjusted as per the M6 collective bargaining agreement; please refer to the contract for the new salary rates.
October 1 Adjustments:
Professorial and Teaching Professor (L(P)SOE series) scales, Above Scale salaries and Off-Scale salary components will be increased by 4%.
Exclusions:
Student titles, including Academic Student Employees (BX unit) and Graduate Student Researchers (BR unit), are currently in contract negotiations, therefore those scales will not be adjusted at this time.
Appointees with by-agreement salaries, including visiting titles, are not eligible for the salary increase. Preuss teachers and counselors whose salaries are set per a Unit 18 contract side-letter are not eligible for the general range adjustment. Administrative stipends will not be adjusted.
Participants in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan (HSCP) and General Campus Compensation Plan (GCCP) are not eligible for mid-year salary increases. The covered compensation components (X and X’ for HSCP; scale rate, off-scale and/or above scale for GCCP) will be increased by 4% and the negotiated salary component will be reduced by the same dollar amount to maintain the approved Total Negotiated Salary amount for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Other Notes:
The July 1 and October 1 effective dates apply to academics paid on the monthly (MO) pay schedule. Increases for academics paid bi-weekly (BW), will be effective July 10, 2022, the first pay period following July 1. All scale rates, off-scale components, and above scale salaries are subject to rounding and smoothing so exact percentages may differ.
The changes to UCPath will be managed centrally by Academic Compensation. Department and Dean Office staff will be expected to review resulting payroll entries and alert Academic Compensation if problems are detected.
I hope this information is helpful. Our goal is to ensure implementation of this salary increase in the most efficient and consistent manner possible. If you have questions regarding the 2022-2023 salary program, please direct them to academicpersonnel@ucsd.edu.
