It is with abundant pride we share the most current rankings from the US News & World Report “Best Hospital” survey. UC San Diego Health has sustained its #1 local ranking and is #5 in California.
These data-driven rankings are validation of our critical role in the region for providing safe high-quality health care to our community and to patients across the United States.
For the 2022-2023 rankings and ratings, U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions.
Among these, UC San Diego Health ranked in 10 specialties:

Performance was evaluated using a variety of measures such as survival rates, discharge to home, reputation, complication rates, patient experience and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals methodology also factors in data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists
