CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Central Utilities Plant Expansion, Chiller Plant Addition: Northbound Lane Closure on Gilman Drive
Project Purpose, Location and Duration As part of a central utilities plant expansion, a new chiller plant is being constructed to provide additional efficient, water-based cooling capacity throughout the campus. The chiller plant is powered by carbon-free electric power and will include two chillers, two cooling towers, associated pumps, piping and all required electrical distribution systems.
On Friday, July 8, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., utilities exploration on a section of Gilman Drive near the South Parking Structure will be undertaken to identify underground utilities in the area in advance of the installation of a storm drain line.
Immediate Impacts During this work, the northbound lane of Gilman Drive will be closed. One lane will remain open at all times with flaggers to direct traffic. Please follow signage and allow extra time while traveling on Gilman Drive. Access to South Parking Structure and the pedestrian path on the west side of Gilman Drive will be maintained.
Please observe all temporary traffic controls and crewmember instructions. Please reduce speeds and allow extra space when traveling adjacent to construction activity. See a map of the affected area.
