Fall 2022 Student Parking

Transportation Services Parking Team is excited to welcome students back to campus for fall quarter. Most Tritons travel to campus with a transportation option other than driving alone, but we recognize that sometimes driving may be the best choice for your unique circumstances. To support that, we’re focusing on flexible daily parking options and continuing to invest in the lower-impact modes that students use most:
  1. New tools through Triton Commuter Club help with commute planning, ride matching and incentives for the days you leave your car at home.
  2. All commuter students will use our flexible parking daily options through the ParkMobile app. Upper-division students who want access to S parking should be logged into ParkMobile using their @ucsd.edu email.
  3. New student parking lot P707, featuring more than 200 spaces, is located under the UC San Diego Health La Jolla trolley stop and served by the UC San Diego Blue Line and the Regents Express Shuttle.
  4. Residents with upper-division standing may purchase consecutive-day permits and choose the start and end date that works best for them using our parking portal.
We have maintained parking rates at 2019 levels; however, our staffing and supplier costs have increased. As a result, A and B (faculty and staff) permit rates increased on July 28, 2022, and S and SR permit rates will increase on September 6, 2022. There is no rate increase for the D “Discount” permit or the Super Saver lots P782 and P386. Permit prices are available on our website.

In addition to keeping D and Super Saver rates the same for another year, we’re delighted to offer several low- and no-cost commute options that can help you save money and reduce the environmental impact of your commute. To help you find and evaluate options, we’ve reorganized our website to highlight resources for specific university community groups, including:
  • Graduate Students
  • Undergraduate Students
Remember, all students who pay registration fees have access to U-Pass, an unlimited transit pass just for UC San Diego students. Students who live off campus and in neighborhoods that are not well served by transit can find free parking at several MTS park-and-ride facilities and take a fare-free ride to the center of campus on the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley or an MTS Rapid express bus.

If you need help navigating options or have questions regarding programs, our customer service representatives are here to help:
  1. Virtual Office hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays (excluding university holidays)
  2. Email: parking@ucsd.edu
  3. Phone: (858) 534-4223
  4. Website: https://transportation.ucsd.edu/
For timely notifications on parking lot improvements or program changes, we invite you to subscribe to our voluntary notifications list and be the First to Know.

Thank you for your continued support.
