Updates from Human Resources | |
How are you? No, really, how are you? If you’re like me, even reading that I would do the knee-jerk, “I’m fine” or “I’m doing well” response. I’m asking you to really take a moment and check in on yourself. So, I ask again, how are you? This is the time of year where the campus is buzzing with new and returning students and the excitement, promise, and absolute herculean effort by many of you to make sure to deliver on that awesome student experience. When is the last time you sat and thought about how deeply important your contribution is to shaping our future leaders? No role is too small or too removed from the direct student experience, as we all play a part in making this a great place.
Speaking of this great place and in the spirit of our efforts to always work to improve the work experience for all of you, our amazing staff…have you completed your Staff@Work survey? If you haven’t, there is still time. The survey was extended through Friday, September 23, because of how important your feedback is to the efforts we will undertake to better your work experience.
At our last Town Hall, I shared what we lovingly are referring to as the “Yellow Brick Road” outlining our refreshed, and in some ways, brand new approach to maximizing the great feedback you all provide in the Staff@Work survey. After the survey concludes, we will identify our strengths and opportunities and then come back to you for ideas to capitalize on our strengths and ways to address our opportunities. This is just the beginning, and will initiate our ongoing information gathering and sharing so that you can be a part of continuously improving our workplace.
If you have not completed your survey, please work with your supervisor and take some time today to search your email for subject:"staff@work" for your unique link to this year’s survey. If you have questions, contact sawsurvey@ucsd.edu for assistance.

New COVID Bivalent Booster Vaccine Now Available: As both our Chancellor and our Health CEO shared earlier this month, the new Pfizer and Moderna “bivalent” vaccines have been designed to continue to provide protection from the originally circulating SARS-CoV-2 virus while adding protection from the newer omicron strains. Campus employees can schedule an appointment online for either La Jolla Medical Center drive up location at 9460 Athena Circle, at the Recreation Gym, or at your preferred provider. You can also get your seasonal influenza vaccine at the same time.
