On September 22, 2022, at 8:50 pm, the UC San Diego Police Department received a report of an assault that occurred off campus at the entrance of the pedestrian foot bridge leading from the south sidewalk of La Jolla Village Drive, over La Jolla Village Drive (Street), to the "The Rita" Atkinson Residences. The victim stated as she entered the ramp leading up to the pedestrian bridge from La Jolla Village Drive, the suspect approached the victim and grabbed the victim’s arm and stated "Hey, hey, hey, hey, let me talk to you. You look familiar. Come here." The victim pulled away and ran from the suspect. No additional crimes were reported at the time of contact with the victim.
The suspect is described as a male, unknown age, 5'9, thin build, unknown hair style, unknown clothing, with a shopping cart in his possession.
The suspect has not been apprehended and the investigation is on-going. The crime case has been referred to the San Diego Police Department.

- Report suspicious activity immediately to the UC San Diego Police Department by calling 9-1-1.

- Whenever possible, travel well-lit, busy routes. Avoid walking or parking in shadowed areas. Have your keys in your hand as you approach your door.
