Latest Update to Kuali Research includes Material Transfer Agreements

Dear Colleagues,

As part of continuous improvement, and our effort to streamline business processes, we are happy to announce Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) will be included in Kuali Research late October 2022. The addition of MTAs in Kuali Research will significantly improve our ability to track, monitor, and approve compliances, as well as increase efficiencies and reporting capabilities, all while reducing the number of systems used to process research agreement requests.

A project team made up of various subject matter experts from across labs, central offices, and departments were assembled to review the MTA business processes and to test system configurations. To prepare for the transition, please see the following:

ANTICIPATED CHANGES
Upon launch of the MTAs a new agreement type will be added to the Kuali Research Proposal Development module. Users will utilize the module to create and submit MTA records that will be routed to the central offices for review.

REQUEST ACCESS
Users who do not currently have access to Kuali Research can request the “Proposal Creator” role now by following these Step-By-Step Instructions.

RECORD RETENTION
The eMTA system will be retired concurrently with the “go-live” of MTAs in Kuali Research in October 2022. If you wish to retain any fully executed agreements or other documents for your records that are contained in the eMTA system, please download those as soon as possible.

COMPLETE MTAs IN PROGRESS
If you have initiated an MTA request in the eMTA system and it is currently in “Pre-Submission,” please complete the record, make sure the request is certified, and route it as soon as possible.
