Library Services Available During 2023 Campus Winter Closure
Geisel Library will close on Friday, Dec. 22 at 6 p.m., and WongAvery Library will close on Friday, Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. Both Library buildings will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, with Geisel opening at 7:30 a.m. and WongAvery at 10 a.m. See the Library hours webpage for current and future building hours, and visit the Reserve a Space page to make study room and specialized computing reservations for January 3 and beyond.
Online resources such as electronic journals, electronic books, and databases are always available by logging into the campus’s Virtual Private Network (VPN). More information about Library services available during the campus winter closure can be found on our website.
The Library is currently accepting course reserve requests for Winter Quarter 2024 at reserves.ucsd.edu. Requests submitted after Friday, Dec. 8 may not be available for student use until after winter quarter instruction has begun.
During the holiday closure, limited information and research assistance is available through the Library's 24/7 online chat service, with questions answered by librarians from non-UC libraries. Additionally, the following resources and tools can provide self-help assistance:
