I am pleased to announce the 24th Annual UC San Diego Veterans Staff Association Veterans Recognition Ceremony to honor and thank our veterans and members of the Armed Forces. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in UC San Diego’s Supercomputer Center Auditorium. The event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served immediately following the celebration. The theme of this year’s ceremony is “Finding a New Mission.”
Our UC San Diego Veteran of the Year, Sheldon King, and Student Veteran of the Year, Hanh Dinh, will be honored and thanked for their service, and each veteran and military service member in attendance will be recognized.
In recognition of veterans and members of the Armed Forces in our community, 90 minutes of administrative leave with pay have been approved for employees to attend this event. Supervisors, upon request, may approve the use of such leave when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required duties or patient care.
The event is wheelchair accessible. To request reasonable accommodations, such as American Sign Language interpretation, to facilitate your participation at the event, please contact Joanna Boval at jboval@ucsd.edu by Tuesday, November 7.
We invite you to join your colleagues as UC San Diego celebrates the contributions of the outstanding veterans, active military, retired military, reservists and military affiliates who add so much value to our campus community. We thank all veterans for their service.
