Effective January 1, 2024, Academic Personnel Manual (APM) Section 758, Leaves of Absence/Other Leaves with Pay has been revised to include reproductive loss leave consistent with Senate Bill 848.
“Reproductive loss” is defined as a failed adoption, failed surrogacy, miscarriage, stillbirth, or an unsuccessful assisted reproduction.
Per the revised APM 758, an eligible academic appointee may take up to five (5) days of reproductive loss leave following reproductive loss by the academic appointee, by the academic appointee’s current spouse or domestic partner, or by another individual if the academic appointee would have been a parent of a child had the reproductive loss not occurred.
As an additional revision to APM 758, language regarding bereavement leave has been edited to clarify bereavement leave does not need to be used on consecutive days.
