Let’s Talk About UCPath

A number of campus colleagues, both employees and administrators, are frustrated with UCPath. The challenges range from prolonged hold times and unusual delays to pay and benefits issues in some areas. We take issues impacting our staff, academic, and student employees extremely seriously.

While we do not manage this system-wide operation, please know that locally, we are escalating matters and providing constructive feedback to the UCPath Center and to our systemwide colleagues.

In a tight talent market, the UCPath Center, just like many UC campuses, is experiencing a number of vacancies that are impacting service levels. We are advocating for our employees while partnering with UCPath to improve service levels. Our efforts include:
  • weekly “issue” meetings with UCPath liaisons;
  • expanded access to data and systems for our local team to help the UCPath Center and problem resolution;
  • participation of our local teams in several pilot projects that will improve UCPath functionality and user experience; and
  • the development of service level targets to improve the resolution time and quality of their response.
We share this, not because this makes any of the challenges easier, but to make sure you understand that you are not being ignored and your concerns are not being glazed over. Additionally, we want to make you aware of how to get assistance on those issues that are time sensitive and/or need extra care.

If you need assistance with your UCPath cases about critical issues related to missed pay or dropped benefits, cases being closed without explanation and/or resolution, or are experiencing severely slow response time, please reach out to our Escalation Contacts for assistance. Please visit https://ucpath.ucsd.edu/need-help/index.html and scroll down for a list of UC San Diego Escalation Contacts related to your issue.

We know this can be frustrating, and we are hoping service levels improve very soon.

Take care,
Terri Winbush
