ARREST MADE - UPDATE to Community Alert Bulletin Posted 6/13/2022

On Saturday, 03/18/2023, at approximately 2:49 pm, two women reported to the UC San Diego Police Department (UCSD PD) that a male was stopped in his vehicle in the vicinity of Biological Grade, at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.  He was sitting naked in his vehicle and masturbating in public.  Officers responded and found the vehicle with the male inside.  He was detained and the two women were able to positively identify the male being detained by UCSD PD. 

This suspect was determined to be the same person and the same vehicle reported from a previous Community Alert Bulletin on 06/13/2022 and updated on 01/19/2023 (the original bulletin and update are listed below).  The suspect has been arrested and charged with two counts of indecent exposure.

The UC San Diego Police Department would like to thank the community for their help in identifying this suspect, and promptly reporting to the police department.

UPDATE 01/19/2023 to Community Alert Bulletin posted 06/13/2022
The UC San Diego Police Department (UCSD PD) is continuing to gather information for an investigation related to the Community Alert Bulletin posted on 06/13/2022 (the original bulletin is listed below). 

There have been other same or similar incidents since 06/13/2022 involving this same individual and vehicle.  The age of the subject has been updated to be between 25 to 30 years old. 

UCSD PD is requesting the public’s assistance from anyone who can positively identify this individual.

*** Original Community Alert Bulletin ***
On June 13, 2022 at 5 PM, the UC San Diego Police Department received a report that a person was being followed by an individual who is unaffiliated with the University at Biological Grade at parking lot #011 at 4:30 PM.
  • The person is described by the victim as a male in his late 30's to early 40's.  He had short or very little hair. He was wearing a dark face covering and dark clothing. The person was driving a silver 4 door Volvo sedan. There is no further suspect information at this time.
  • At this time, this a person of interest for this incident.
  • The report is currently under investigation by the UC San Diego Police Department.

  • If you are in immediate danger, call or text 911.
  • Trust your instincts. Don’t downplay the danger. If you feel you are unsafe, you deserve support and should reach out for care. Even if you are unsure about what you are experiencing, you can speak with confidential resources to discuss concerns and options.
  • Keep a record or log of each contact with the stalker. Be sure to also document any police reports. Save all e-mails, text messages, photos, and postings on social networking sites as evidence of the stalking behavior.
  • Develop a safety plan, including things like changing your routine, arranging a place to stay and having a friend or relative go places with you. Decide in advance what to do if a stalker shows up at your home, work, school or somewhere else.
