The 39th annual Sun God Festival will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. Due to the construction of event infrastructure, Hopkins Drive will close from 6 a.m. through 9 p.m. on May 13. Hopkins Drive will also close during that period to all traffic between Scholars Drive North and Voigt Drive.
Additionally, as part of health and safety initiatives related to the Festival, Scholars Drive North will close to all traffic between the Pangaea Parking Structure and North Point Drive from 6 a.m. through 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.
UC San Diego community members planning to be on campus Saturday, but not attend the event, may want to avoid the northwest area of campus, as road access and parking will be impacted.
Please note these additional impacts to parking and transportation to allow for the set-up and teardown of the Sun God Festival:
- Voigt Drive between Matthews Lane and Hopkins Drive will close intermittently between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. and no vehicles will be allowed on Voigt Drive between 5 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.
- Access to Hopkins Parking Structure, Marshall Lower Apartments Lot (P308) and Library Loop on Hopkins Drive (P309) will be impacted from 6 a.m. through 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. The Hopkins Parking Structure will only be accessible from Voigt Lane; the Hopkins entrance will be closed. No inbound or outbound traffic from any of these parking areas will be permitted between 5 – 7 p.m.
- Spanos Loop on Northpoint Lane (P359) and the Rady Parking Lot (P357) will be closed from 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 through 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. Parking in the Rady Parking Lot (P357) will be impacted throughout the day on Friday, May 12.
We urge all festival attendees to use an alternative transportation option to get to and from the event on Saturday, May 13. The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System will provide light rail and bus service to the campus on Saturday, May 13. Lyft and Uber drop off and pick up will be on the upper deck of the Pangea parking structure.
