A Note From Your Campus CHRO, Terri Winbush

In continuing my theme from last week’s Staff Town Hall, gratitude is truly what we should all have and be thinking about. I’m grateful we get to celebrate and honor our amazing graduates at the numerous commencement ceremonies occurring this weekend. I’m grateful that we can celebrate Pride Month and Juneteenth at this amazing place. It’s important to not take these important occasions for granted and to reflect on the meaning of each. The People Proposition anchors of Equity, Inclusion, Care, Growth and Purpose are all about recognizing our connection to the development and education of our students, allowing people to bring their whole selves into work, and acknowledging the history of our country to inform our steps forward to enable opportunities for all.
I encourage you all to take some time during this three-day Juneteenth weekend to explore and understand the history and meaning of this annual celebration. For Pride Month, celebrate and demonstrate Pride by learning more about and reflecting upon its history.
As we head into the official declaration of summer (anyone else desperate for our San Diego sunshine?), some of you have summer vacations or days off planned. Please, please, please enjoy your time off. Do not work on your vacation. People leaders, put structures in place to support your team members truly stepping away when they take off. They all need it.
News and Resources
UCPath Projects – June Release UCPath is making changes to ensure that employees are identified by their self-chosen or “lived name” in the system. These changes align with UC’s Gender Recognition and Lived Name policy.
What is changing? Beginning June 20, 2023, the new “Name” field will replace the “Preferred Name” in UCPath. The “Name” field represents an employee’s self-chosen name, which may differ from their legal name. View instructions on how to add a self-chosen name in UCPath here.
UC will also conduct its annual upgrade and complete phase one of the Replace PayPath project, featuring a new Manage Job tile.
The UCPath system will be unavailable from Friday, June 16 at 3 p.m. – Monday, June 19 at 9 p.m. in order to implement the June release projects. Approvers, remember to approve any pending transactions. There are currently over 2,000 in pending status. Learn more here.
