A Note From Your Campus CHRO, Terri Winbush

Happy summer! The San Diego sunshine is back, and for some of you, that alone makes a difference in outlook. This is a time of year when many of us make our plan to meet goals over the next year. Others are reflecting on the academic year, and the awesome achievements of our students. And others are about to head out for a much-needed vacation, or just returned from one that was (I hope) nourishing to their soul, joyful, and restful. It’s the perfect time to take stock and head into the next time of work with renewed energy and a fresh mindset.
Did you know that July is social wellness month? I did not either, but when I did a little research, I thought it was important to share with you. Social wellness is about fostering positive connections, not just with family and friends, but also with our communities, colleagues, and strangers we meet along the way. This is one way to enable our People Proposition as the lived experience for all UC San Diego employees. I encourage you to learn more about social wellness and be intentional and show grace in all of your interactions, whether they be in person, on Zoom, on Teams, via email, or on the phone. You never know how one positive interaction can change a person’s perspective and life for the better!

Our FSAP team compiled a list of resources to help you further understand the importance of taking time off, allowing you to recharge and step into your whole self. Read more below:
Identifying Burnout, and How FSAP Can Help Burnout is a dangerous reality for thousands of people in the workforce – but it doesn’t have to be. Learn how to prevent it and mitigate its effects in this handy guide, and find information on how our Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) can help you if you’re experiencing burnout.
