A Note From Your Campus CHRO, Terri Winbush
| |
Three years ago, we held our very first Staff Town Hall. It was a great platform and opportunity to share critical and timely information during the pandemic. And it was also an opportunity for us to begin a campus dialogue with staff.
We're so grateful for the people who helped us launch the Staff Town Hall program, and for all the presenters (particularly our amazing partners in UC San Diego Health). We’re also deeply grateful that we’re now in a position where we can ask ourselves, what’s next? What we recognize is that there’s an opportunity to provide more tailored content to you.
To that end, as you heard me say in our most recent Staff Town Hall, we are thrilled to announce we will be introducing three new, quarterly events in October of this year:
People Leader Summit The centerpiece of our People Leader Network - a community of People Leaders across UC San Diego - the People Leader Summit will focus on the vast resources available to help People Leaders cultivate an ideal and desirable work environment for their team. Continue reading below in the Upcoming Events section to learn more about this event, and how to sign up if you are a People Leader.
HR Forum The HR Forum is an opportunity for all UC San Diego HR members to engage in professional development, and to gather for the exchange of ideas and best practices as a collective community of HR professionals beyond Campus HR. Stay tuned for registration information in the coming months if you are an HR professional.
Staff Town Hall 2.0 Previously held every six weeks, the new Staff Town Hall will now take place once a quarter, continuing to feature thoughtful content, special guests, and updates relevant to all UC San Diego staff. Head over to the Upcoming Events section to register for our Q4 Town Hall in October (you won’t want to miss it!).
At the heart of this all is you, our people. All our programs and events are designed and founded upon our People Proposition, which I am thrilled to announce has also undergone an exciting update, seen below or through this link here in case you want to share with all your friends and co-workers (hint!).
| |
As I mentioned to you when we first introduced the People Proposition, these five anchors are intended to drive people toward feeling good about coming to work, bringing their whole selves to work, and consequently being able to innovate, contribute constructive feedback, offer ideas, and new perspectives. Our goal is for the People Proposition to become the lived experience for everyone at UC San Diego.
I know this is a lot of new information, so I encourage you to reference this edition of Updates from HR as often as needed to stay on top of all the exciting new things we’ve got in store for you.
But before I let you continue enjoying the rest of this newsletter, I want to wrap up with one of the most important initiatives of the year – the Staff@Work Survey, taking place August 16 – September 15, 2023.
If you haven’t gathered by now, we are fully committed to improving your experience as a UC San Diego staff member. The Staff@Work survey is a key element in helping us achieve that. So please, please take the time to fill out the survey when you see it come through your inbox.
If you need to allot time to complete it, work with your People Leader to make that happen before the survey ends on Sept. 15. Remember, your feedback is completely anonymous.
