ALL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO
Appointment of Interim Vice Chancellor for Resource Management and Planning Maureen Harrigan
Dear RMP Staff:
As
you know, Vice Chancellor for Resource Management and Planning Gary Matthews retired from his office on June 29, 2023 following 21 years of exceptional service.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Interim Vice Chancellor for Resource Management and Planning (IVC-RMP), Maureen Harrigan. Maureen brings decades of experience in higher education and private industry leadership and has served in several roles, including Interim AVP for Budget and Management Analysis for Seton Hall University, Interim Vice President for Finance and Operations for the Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, and Sr. Associate Dean for Finance & Administration at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University. In the private sector, Maureen has served as a Corporate Philanthropy Manager at Agilent Technologies, and an R&D Project Manager and Manufacturing Manager at Hewlett-Packard.
IVC Harrigan’s appointment will begin on August 7, 2023 and will run through the hiring of a new Vice Chancellor. Please
join me in welcoming her to UC San Diego.
We have launched a national search for a new Vice Chancellor. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Alysson Satterlund will chair this search. An announcement regarding the search will be issued in the next few weeks.
RMP manages campus-wide design and construction services; university-wide planning; energy, environment and safety initiatives; university police emergency management; facilities management and several auxiliary units,
including the campus bookstore; printing and childcare services. Additionally, RMP manages transportation programs, alternative transportation, parking programs and policy and records and currently supervises more than 940 full-time staff members. It is critical that we
select new leadership to build upon UC San Diego’s success.
However,
moving forward, based on input from across our campus, we will be changing the unit name to Operations Management and Capital Programs (OMCP) to better reflect the roles and responsibilities of the portfolio. The unit name will be established upon the official hiring of
the permanent Vice Chancellor for Operations Management and Capital Programs and not during Interim Vice Chancellor Harrigan’s term.
