The Vice Chancellor for Operations Management and Capital Programs (VC-OMCP) reports to the Chancellor and has overall managerial responsibility for the day-to-day operations of UC San Diego’s resources and services and oversight of the planning functions, policies and programs for the university. The VC-OMCP also oversees a workforce of approximately 950 FTEs in departments including Capital Program Management and Design and Development Services; Facilities Management and Fleet Services; Campus Planning; Police/Community Safety; Environment, Health and Safety; Sustainability and Energy Initiatives; and Auxiliary Business Services including the UC San Diego Bookstore, Early Childhood Education Center, and Transportation Services.
Candidates must be highly qualified to lead UC San Diego vision and strategy in support of the university’s tripartite mission of excellence in education, research and clinical care, with an emphasis on building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive community. We are seeking an experienced administrator with demonstrated success at increasing levels of budgetary responsibility and facilities management, establishing collaborative initiatives from multiple departments, managing large and complex organizations, and leading strategic planning, budgeting and resource management initiatives and special projects, preferably within the administration for a large, public research university.
Through a series of listening sessions with various constituencies on campus to be held beginning in August, the search firm will develop a comprehensive position profile that includes challenges and opportunities for the next VC-OMCP. The Search Advisory Committee will begin reviewing candidates soon after the position profile is developed and will continue until the position is filled.
Direct inquiries and nominations should be emailed to apsearch@spaexec.com. You need not contact the nominee to ascertain if they are willing to be considered as a candidate. All nominees will be contacted in confidence by the search firm to discuss their willingness to have their names put forward to the search advisory committee.
