I am delighted to announce the inaugural Chancellor's Innovation Awards and the commencement of the open nomination period. This marks a significant milestone for UC San Diego as we celebrate the impact of innovation and entrepreneurship within our community. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
The Chancellor's Innovation Awards were created to recognize and celebrate the profound impact of the culture of innovation that is unique to UC San Diego, and the individuals who are driving positive societal change through groundbreaking discovery. This year, we introduce two distinguished categories for nomination: Startup of the Year and Innovation of the Year. The Startup of the Year category honors groundbreaking initiatives that have evolved into successful ventures, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the betterment of society. The Innovation of the Year award recognizes pioneers who turn novel ideas into lasting impact, within our campus and regional community, and globally. These categories represent the diverse spectrum of innovation that thrives within our university community.
An Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council Innovation Awards Showcase is being held later this fall to connect nominees and offer networking opportunities with the Innovation Award review board. Nominations to participate in this unique and highly recommended opportunity are due by October 10. All other nominations are due by November 15.
