The University of California has issued a Policy on Vaccination Programs requiring all students, faculty, other academic appointees, and staff who are living, learning, or working on premises at any University facility to (i) receive Vaccine Education concerning influenza and vaccination as a preventive measure; and (ii) receive or affirmatively decline influenza vaccination. The compliance date for UC San Diego is November 15, 2024.
UC San Diego is committed to the health and safety of all. The most important measure to prevent flu infection is an annual flu vaccination, and it is even more important when respiratory viruses are common in the community. Similar to the steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection such as wearing a face covering, getting an annual flu vaccination helps stop the spread of influenza, in addition to protecting you and your community.
Employee Flu Vaccination
Employees are encouraged to get the flu shot through their primary care provider or through a local pharmacy. Many local pharmacies and clinics offer free flu shots. If you receive care through UC San Diego Health, you can receive a flu shot through their primary care, express care, and other locations. You can learn more at the UC San Diego Health website.
Student Employee Flu Vaccination
Student employees should follow the student process for obtaining a flu vaccination. For those that wish to receive this vaccine at Student Health (please check your health insurance coverage), go to MyStudentChart to select an appointment time, or they can indicate they received an influenza vaccine outside of UC San Diego by selecting “preventative care” from the menu or main page of the MyStudentChart site. Flu vaccines are also freely available at most retail pharmacies.
SUBMIT YOUR ATTESTATION OR DECLINATION
You should submit your attestation or declination of the influenza vaccine through the Flu Vaccination Attestation or Declination form, available in English and Spanish, no later than Fri., Nov. 15, 2024. You must sign in with your Active Directory (AD) login.
