We’re excited to announce the 25th Annual UC San Diego Veterans Staff Association Veterans Recognition Ceremony. This special event honors our veterans and members of the Armed Forces for their service and sacrifice. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UC San Diego’s Supercomputer Center Auditorium. The event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served immediately following the celebration. The theme of this year’s ceremony is “Be the One: Supporting Veterans Mental Health – Ask, Listen, Reach Out.”
Our UC San Diego Veteran of the Year, Tim Walsh and Student Veteran of the Year, Travis Hayden will be honored and thanked for their service, and each veteran and military service member in attendance will be recognized.
To support the recognition of veterans and members of the Armed Forces on campus, I am approving 90 minutes of administrative leave with pay. I ask supervisors to allow employees to attend as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required duties or patient care.
The event is wheelchair accessible. To request reasonable accommodations, such as American Sign Language interpretation, to facilitate your participation at the event, please contact Joanna Boval at jboval@ucsd.edu by Monday, Nov. 4.
Join your colleagues and fellow Tritons as UC San Diego celebrates the contributions of the outstanding veterans, active military, retired military, reservists and military affiliates who add so much value to our campus community.
