Native American Heritage Month (NAHM), observed every November in the United States, is a time to celebrate and recognize Indigenous peoples' cultures, traditions, histories and enduring contributions.
At UC San Diego, our Intertribal Resource Center leads a campus committee that recognizes the achievements and contributions of Native American people and tribes. The committee comprises students, faculty and staff, all committed to increasing the Native American presence on campus, supporting Native American students and honoring our local tribal communities. Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in various events throughout the month, including a special kickoff celebration planned by the committee.

Administrative Leave with Pay
In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved for employees to attend a NAHM activity. Supervisors, upon request, may approve the use of such leave when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.
