Open Enrollment Checklist

The Open Enrollment period for 2025 benefits ends on Friday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. PST. Remember, this is your once-a-year opportunity to review and select benefits offered at UC San Diego. Make your enrollment a priority to ensure you have enough time to ask any questions you may have.

Before you choose your benefits, be sure to:

Explore all your options. With an increase in medical plan premiums, it's critical to understand the options available to you. Please review the which medical plan is right for you page on UCnet to review side-by-side plan comparisons so that you are making the best decisions on your coverage options. You can also attend an Open Enrollment presentation and/or Benefits Office Hours for personalized guidance. Detailed schedule available onBlink.

Learn what’s new or changing for 2025. Find out about premium increases and a few important changes to medical plan benefits. If you're planning to retire in 2025, think carefully about the plan you choose this year.

Review our dental, vision, and legal plans. UC offers dental and vision plans at no cost for eligible employees. Other choices provide extra protection for the unexpected. Learn more about these other benefits

Save on taxes. UC's Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Account (paired with the UC Health Savings Plan) allow you to save money tax-free to pay for eligible expenses - consider how much you’d like to contribute for 2025. And remember, if you want to continue your Health and/or Dependent Care FSA, you must re-enroll.

Enroll online. Make all of your Open Enrollment changes on UCPath by 5 p.m. PST on Friday, Nov. 22. Here’s how to enroll using UCPath, and answers to frequently asked questions.

Other items to review as you make your selections:

  • Have you considered choosing a provider in the UC San Diego Health network for your primary and specialty care?
    • UC San Diego Health is proud to be ranked #1 in San Diego and named to the Best Hospitals National Honor Roll by U.S. News & World Report. Eleven of our specialty care programs are also named among the top 50 in the nation.
    • For more information on our growing network of services and physicians near you, please visit health.ucsd.edu/choose.
  • Have you considered enrolling inARAG Legal Insurance?
  • With UCPath, Open Enrollment changes can be submitted once per day. You will receive an email confirmation statement after each submission.
  • You can find more information about Open Enrollment on UCnet and on Blink.

If you’re unable to make changes online, you can call the UCPath Center for help at 855-982-7284, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Making changes in this way may require paper forms and additional time, so it's important to not delay your call.

All enrollment changes will be effective January 1, 2025.

If you are a campus employee (academics, staff), and have questions about your benefits, contact the Benefits team in Campus Human Resources.

If you are a Health or Health Sciences employee, and have questions about your benefits, contact Health HR.
