Following a comprehensive nationwide search, it is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Kaitlyn Sedzmak as the new Operations Management & Capital Programs Chief of Staff, effective December 2, 2024.
As a seasoned higher education professional, Kaitlyn brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this critical role that will be instrumental in supporting the services our units provide to the campus community in the advancement of the University mission. For the past decade, Kaitlyn has worked in several roles at CalPoly Pomona, including her current position as Chief of Staff of Student Affairs where she provides strategic support to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students. In this role, she has been responsible for advising on strategic planning, policy development, risk management, and campus issues, while also managing organizational change, financial planning, human resources, and fundraising for the division. Kaitlyn has also directed and managed the overall operations of the Vice President's immediate office, ensuring optimal service and support to unit department heads and staff within the Student Affairs Division. Prior to this role, Kaitlyn held positions as Director of Budget & Human Resources for Student Affairs and Associate Director for Parking & Transportation Services, also at Cal Poly Pomona. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of success in managing complex operations, budgets, and human resources.
As Chief of Staff, Kaitlyn will be a member of the Vice Chancellor OMCP senior management team and will work closely with OMCP and campus leadership to execute key priorities, and develop strategic plans aimed at achieving cross functional goals across the organization. She will be responsible for managing OMCP’s strategic plan, tracking goals and outcomes, conducting assessments, developing analytics to inform continuous improvement, and serving as a liaison to campus leaders, the UC Office of the President, and external constituents. She will also staff key committees and task forces, provide high-level guidance and support, and serve as a senior policy advisor and organizational change agent.
