We are pleased to announce that Jennifer Schwedler will join the Office of Educational Innovation as the executive director for online learning, effective December 9, 2024.
In this role, Jennifer will spearhead the implementation of the Chancellor’s strategic vision for online education, enhancing the student experience while supporting undergraduate and graduate student success, retention, and graduation rates. She will work to expand access to the university, aligning with the institution’s vision for lifelong learning.
Jennifer’s responsibilities will include collaborating with faculty and leadership across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Campus Life, Educational Technology Services, Enrollment Management, and Extended Studies on both strategic and operational initiatives. She will also play a vital role in assessing and advancing both proposed and existing online education initiatives.
Jennifer brings an impressive background in higher education leadership. Currently serving as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Online Learning for UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education, she provides strategic leadership for designing, delivering, and managing high-quality hybrid and online programs. She has been instrumental in developing new online degrees, micro-credentials, and summer session courses. She is a founding member of the University of California’s Re-engagement Consortium, which advances the system’s inaugural degree completion program.
Throughout her higher education career, Jennifer has been dedicated to enhancing educational access and fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Drexel University, a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
