Dear Campus Community,
We are excited to announce the release of the first course in the new Finance Training Program, developed specifically to empower UC San Diego staff and faculty who operate in the Oracle financial system.
Program Summary
The Finance Training Program aims to establish a foundation of knowledge, so those with finance-related responsibilities can achieve long-term success.
The program’s core team collaborated extensively with Oracle users at all levels of experience and subject matter expertise to design the topics and learning objectives. As a result, this on-demand program meets the real-world needs identified by staff across UC San Diego.
The first course, Oracle Foundations, focuses on core concepts and navigation within Oracle Financials Cloud. This introductory course includes the four learning modules listed below, followed by a graded final assessment. Each module is self-paced, taking approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. They must be completed sequentially to gain access to the assessment, which requires an 80% passing score to receive course credit.
- Welcome: OFC and reporting navigation basics
- General Ledger and Subledgers: How OFC is structured and information flow
- Chart of Accounts and Chartstrings: Basics of transacting in the General Ledger
- Intro to Project Portfolio Management (PPM): POET(AF) and project attributes
All UC San Diego staff and faculty are invited to access this on-demand course now available through the UC Learning Center.
More Courses Coming Soon
More courses are in development, and will include topics such as cost transfers, award management, billing & receivables, and more. View the projected course roadmap on the Budget & Finance Training Blink page.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to the comprehensive and beneficial nature of the course content, beginning next fiscal year, the Oracle Foundations course will become mandatory for anyone who has been granted a role in Oracle. We strongly recommend completing the course before it becomes mandatory. If you have faculty or staff who have been provisioned with roles in Oracle, but do not use Oracle, it is recommended their roles be removed. More information about the training requirement and how to identify those with roles in Oracle will be sent over the coming months.
